This title shall be known as the subdivision code of the city of South Gate, California.

(a) 
This title is enacted to establish procedures and requirements for the subdivision of real property within the city of South Gate.
(b) 
This title is enacted to insure the subdivision of real property within the city of South Gate consistent with the city of South Gate general plan and adopted elements thereof.

(a) 
This title is supplemental to the Subdivision Map Act, as it exists or may be subsequently amended in Title 7, Division 2 of the Government Code, state of California, commencing with Section 66410.
(b) 
This title shall apply to all divisions of land hereafter made when said land is entirely or partially within the limits of the city of South Gate.
(c) 
This title shall govern in relation to all other ordinances of the city of South Gate and rules and regulations pursuant thereto. In the event of any inconsistency between the provisions of the municipal code, the most restrictive shall prevail.
(d) 
This title shall not apply to:
(1) 
The financing or leasing of apartments, offices, stores or similar space within apartment buildings, industrial buildings, commercial buildings, mobile home parks, or trailer parks;
(2) 
Mineral, oil or gas leases;
(3) 
Land dedicated for cemetery purposes under the Health and Safety Code of the state of California;
(4) 
A lot line adjustment between two or more adjacent parcels, where the land taken from one parcel is added to an adjacent parcel, and where a greater number of parcels than originally existed is not thereby created. Said lot line adjustment shall be approved by resolution of the city planning commission of the city of South Gate following the procedures established in Chapter 12.10.

The city planning commission of the city of South Gate is designated as the advisory agency, per Section 66415 of the Subdivision Map Act. The city planning commission is charged with the duty of making investigations and reports on the design and improvement of proposed divisions of land, the imposing of requirements or conditions thereon, and is authorized to approve, conditionally approve, or disapprove maps prepared and filed according to this title and the Subdivision Map Act. The city planning commission is further charged with the duty of recommending the nature and extent of improvements required to be installed in subdivisions if other than those for which standards have been adopted. Finally, the city planning commission is charged to transmit to the city council of the city of South Gate a resolution of its action taken on said maps.
