All houses upon the streets and alleys running northerly from the Yuba River shall be numbered, commencing at the bank of the Yuba River and numbering according to the twenty-foot lots fronting on such streets and alleys with the odd numbers on the east side of the streets and alleys and the even numbers on the west side of the streets and alleys; such numbering to commence at the Yuba River on all such streets and alleys running northerly, with the number "1" for the first twenty-foot lot in the first block therefrom from the east side of such streets and alleys, and with the number "2" on the west side and continuing consecutively northerly therefrom for the whole length of the first block. The numbering on the next block northerly therefrom shall commence with the number "101" on the east side and "102" on the west side, continuing consecutively therefrom for the whole length of the block northerly; and the numbering shall continue northerly therefrom in like manner as hereinbefore stated, namely, the numbering upon each block commencing with the next hundred immediately succeeding that which the block immediately south therefrom commences with, and continuing from such hundred consecutively to the end of that block.
All houses upon the streets running westerly from Yuba Street shall be numbered according to the twenty-foot lots, commencing on the west side of Yuba Street, with the odd numbers on the north side of the streets running westerly, and the even numbers on the south side, continuing westerly, and in the manner described in the preceding paragraph, that is each block continuing westerly after the first commencing with a number "100" greater than that commencing the block immediately easterly therefrom.
All houses on fractional lots shall be numbered the same as the lot next preceding it, with 1/2 added thereto.
All houses occupying more than one lot shall be numbered with one number, the number corresponding to the other lot being left blank.
All houses upon the streets running easterly from Yuba Street shall be designated by an "East" or "E" prefix and shall be numbered according to the twenty-foot lots, commencing on the east side of Yuba Street, with the odd numbers on the north side of the streets running easterly, and the even numbers on the south side, continuing easterly, and in the manner described in the first paragraph, that is each block continuing easterly after the first commencing with a number "100" greater than that commencing the block immediately westerly therefrom.
This section does not apply to condominiums, apartment houses, or multi-unit buildings if in the discretion of the building official an alternative or less complex method could be used with accurate designation of the individual units so as to insure location by officials and the general public, providing the owner or his authorized representative shall file a written request with the building official for an alterative method of numbering and if possible suggest a practical method to be used.
