Residency within the town limits of the town shall not be a requirement for appointment of any appointive official within the town unless otherwise prescribed by the laws of the state of Washington or by town ordinance.

Official surety bonds shall be furnished by each person appointed to and assuming the appointive offices below designated, in the amounts set opposite the respective offices, said bonds to be delivered for filing with the town clerk-treasurer after approval by the mayor and town council, the premium for such bonds to be paid by the town, such bonds to be co-extensive with the appointive term, or in the event of no fixed term to be renewed annually.

The salary of the mayor of the town of Winthrop, Washington, from and after January 1, 2024, is hereby set at the sum of one thousand eight hundred dollars ($1,800) per calendar month, such salary to be payable once each month.

The salary of a member of the town council of the town of Winthrop, Washington, from and after January 1, 2023, is hereby set at the sum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) per regular council meeting actually attended, and one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each special council meeting actually attended; provided, however, that the total salary of a member of the council shall not exceed four hundred dollars ($400.00) per calendar month. Salaries of the members of the town council shall be payable once each month.

A. 
From and after June 1, 1969, the office of treasurer of the town shall be combined and consolidated with the office of clerk of the town.
B. 
From and after June 1, 1969, the office of treasurer of the town shall be abolished and thereafter the clerk of the town shall exercise all of the powers and perform all of the duties required by statute or ordinance to be performed by the treasurer, all as provided by RCW 35.27.190.
