The members of the reserve shall render auxiliary support, without compensation, to the animal control department under such rules and regulations as the chief of police and council may prescribe. Members of the reserve may be called to duty by the senior animal control officer (ACO) or chief of police (COP) during the time or in anticipation of any emergency situation or other occasion which, in the opinion of the ACO or COP, will reasonably require the aid of personnel other than that of the regular department to maintain peace and good order in the town. Members of the reserve may also be called to duty at other times for training. Each member of the reserve shall, before entering on his duties, be required to take an appropriate oath. Each member shall have the power to issue citations for violations of the town code.
