The purpose of this chapter is to regulate elections in the Town of Burlington, consistent with the provisions of State Statute, and also to fit the needs and requirements of the Town.
(12/12/2007)
The Town of Burlington does hereby adopt the State Statute Chapters 5-9 as they relate to elections, and to the extent it may be regulated directly by the Town.
Section 7.30(1), Wis. Stats., allows the Town to reduce the number of election inspectors from 7 to 5, or provide for additional inspectors whenever more than one voting machine is used or wards have been combined, and for the selection of alternate officials or the selection of 2 or more sets of officials to work at different times on election day, and to establish different working hours for different officials. Section 7.32, Wis. Stats., allows the Town to reduce the number of election officials to as few as 3.
The Town designates the Town Clerk to establish the number of election inspectors for a given election. Consistent with the requirements of Chapter 7 of the Wisconsin Statutes, the Clerk may reduce or increase the number of inspectors based on the type of election, the expected turn-out, and any other circumstances deemed appropriate to ensure adequate staffing at polling places. The Clerk shall make such determination in a reasonable time prior to such election so that inspectors may be assigned.
