The purpose of this section is to control and limit the number of Canadian geese in the town. The town has determined that the number of geese currently feeding and/or nesting in the town is excessive, and contrary to the health, safety and welfare of its residents.

A. 
Canadian geese or goose is defined as the largest variety of wild geese of Canada and the northern United States; is brownish-gray, with black head and neck and a white patch on each side of the face.
B. 
Other than as permitted by state statute for the raising of Canadian geese as livestock, or on a game farm, no person shall harbor, house or feed Canadian geese within the town.
C. 
The town may, from time to time, contract with hunters to cull the Canadian geese, as may be consistent with state and federal hunting and game laws, and the town may issue a special permit, by resolution, to allow shooting within the township to certain parties, approved by the town, for the limited purpose of reducing the local geese population.

Any person found to be in violation of this section may be subject to the penalties for ordinance violations set forth in Chapter 1.20 of the Town of Burlington Code of general ordinances.
