§ 315-16 Through streets.

Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 39:4-140, the streets or parts of streets described below are hereby designated as through streets. Stop signs shall be installed on the near-right side of each street intersecting the through street except where yield signs are provided for in the designation.

§ 315-19 Vehicle weight restrictions.

A. Vehicles over four tons excused from certain streets: Trucks over four tons gross weight are hereby excluded from the following streets or parts of streets except for the pick up and delivery of materials on such streets.

§ 315-20 Turn prohibitions.

A. No left turn.

(1) It shall be unlawful for any vehicle traveling in an easterly direction on East Central Avenue, in the Borough of Wharton, to make a left hand turn into the driveway of the Wharton Public School between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. when the Wharton Public School are in session.

§ 315-21 Engine-braking.

A. Definitions. As used in this section, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:

ENGINE-BRAKING

The use or operation of any mechanical exhaust device designed to aid in the braking, decompression or deceleration of any motor vehicle which results in excessive, loud, unusual or explosive noise from such vehicle.

B. Prohibition. It shall be unlawful for the driver of any motor vehicle to use or operate or cause to be used or operated at any time and on any street within the Borough of Wharton any mechanical exhaust or decompression device which results in the practice known as engine-braking.

C. Exemptions. Noise caused by the application of engine-braking which is effectively muffled, or if the application is necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the community, or noise created by emergency equipment for emergency purposes are exempt from the provisions of this section. Vehicles operating on U.S. Route 46 and New Jersey Route 15 are exempt from the provisions of this section.

D. Posting of signs. The Borough is hereby authorized to post signs at reasonable locations within the Borough indicating the prohibition of engine-braking.
