Custodian of the journal of the council, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, grants, leases, deeds, easements, annexation files and other legal documents;
The city clerk shall appoint and, when deemed necessary for the good of the service, lay off, suspend, demote or remove all employees of the office of the city clerk.

There shall be a deputy city clerk appointed by the city clerk for an indefinite term. The deputy city clerk shall be an officer of the city and shall perform such duties as requested or directed by the city clerk.
