The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Voluntown as the Local Traffic Authority hereby establishes the following regulations restricting the parking of vehicles on all roads maintained by the Town.
PARK or PARKING
The standing of a vehicle whether occupied or not, upon a street otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in receiving or discharging passengers or unloading wholesale merchandise, or when stopped for any traffic regulations, traffic signs or signals.
TRAFFIC
Pedestrians, vehicles and other conveyances, while using the roads for purposes of travel and access to and from private property.
No parking shall be permitted on any Town road between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. commencing November 1 of each year and ending on April 30 of each year.
The First Selectman or his or her designee may impose a parking ban during and/or in anticipation of winter weather events on any public street or highways within the Town, as deemed necessary in his or her sole discretion. Any such parking bans must be announced on the Town website and social media. No automobile, truck, vehicle, or any personal property of any kind or description shall be parked, placed, deposited, left or allowed to remain within the limits of any public street in the Town during the duration of such parking ban.
A. 
Any person, firm or corporation violating these provisions shall be fined not more than $100 by the Board of Selectmen for each violation.
B. 
The Town, acting through its First Selectman or designee, may remove, or cause to be removed from any street within the Town, any automobile, truck, vehicle or any personal property placed, deposited, left or allowed to remain upon any street within the Town in violation of the provisions of this section in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations.
