When new buildings are to be constructed on the site of old buildings, and (a) it is desired to increase the size or change the location of the existing service connection, or (b) where a service connection to any premises is abandoned or its use no longer desired, the director may remove the service connection. When, in the future, a service connection is requested by the owner, a new service may be constructed only upon application of the owner and upon application and payment for a new connection in the regular manner.

When there is no water main adjacent to a premises and the service line connects to a nonadjacent water main, then, when a main is constructed adjacent to said premises, the owner shall connect the service to the adjacent water main. The director will give the owner 90 days' notice to move the connection. After reconnection, the city will remove the existing tap at the water main. The owner will complete the above-referenced permit which will be issued at no cost to the owner.
