Roadways within Anchorage shall be officially named in accordance with the following definitions:
"Avenue"
means any roadway running in an east-west direction for a distance of 1,000 feet or more.
"Circle"
means any roadway which includes a cul-de-sac.
"Court"
means any roadway running in an east-west direction for a distance less than 1,000 feet.
"Drive"
means any curvilinear roadway.
"E" or "east"
shall be included as the first word in the name of every roadway located east of A Street.
"Lane"
means any roadway running in a northeast-southwest direction for a distance of less than 1,000 feet.
"Loop"
means a curvilinear roadway to which access is limited to a single roadway.
"Parkway"
means a major north-south arterial roadway.
"Place"
means any roadway running in a north-south direction for a distance of less than 1,000 feet.
"Road"
shall be used in a name of a roadway only when another designation is inappropriate or the roadway has been traditionally so designated.
"Street"
means any roadway running in a north-south direction for a distance of 1,000 feet or more.
"W" or "west"
shall be included as the first word in the name of every roadway located west of A Street.
"Way"
means any roadway running in a northwest-southeast direction for a distance less than 1,000 feet.
