Chapter 84.34 RCW was enacted by the Washington State Legislature in 1970 for the purpose of maintaining, preserving, conserving, and otherwise continuing in existence open space lands for the production of food, fiber and to assure the use and enjoyment of natural resources and scenic beauty for the economic well-being of the state and its citizens. This chapter provides a rating system pursuant to Chapter 84.34 RCW for the evaluation of open space lands and does not include and will not be used to assess agricultural or designated forest and timber land, pursuant to Chapter 458-30 WAC and WAC 458-40-530 and 458-40-540, as amended.
