The affirmative votes of three Council Members shall be required to appoint an individual to the Business Commission. The elected Mayor will make recommendations for appointments with Council confirming the appointments.
In partnership with the community, the Business Commission is committed to enhancing the quality of life in Encinitas through a thriving, efficient, resilient, and inclusive local economy where businesses of all sizes, sectors and residents can succeed. The Business Commission will advise City Council on policies, programs, and strategies that support and effect economic development, business retention, and innovation while aligning with the City's values, culture, vision and quality of life. The Business Commission shall prepare a work plan and present an annual report to the City Council in accordance with Municipal Code Title 2 § 2.30.020.
The Business Commission shall collaborate with Planning, Environmental, and other City commissions on overlapping concerns and may establish subcommittees to achieve goals as set forth by their work plan.
