The name of the Municipal Court shall be the "Municipal Court of the Township of North Brunswick."
The Municipal Court shall have a seal which shall bear the impress of the name of the Court.
There shall be a Judge of the Municipal Court, who shall be appointed by the Mayor and Council and who shall serve for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.

A.
The Judges of the Municipal Court shall receive such salary as may be authorized by the current Salary Ordinance for their position. The base salary of each Judge shall be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other Municipal officers, dividing the base salary by 24 pay periods. The current number of regular court sessions is 176. The salary for each judge shall be calculated by multiplying the number of sessions assigned at the beginning of a calendar year by the per regular session rate (2025 $859).
B.
Any Special Session scheduled for a sitting Judge in addition to their routinely scheduled service, or for a visiting Judge, shall be compensated at $700 per session, effective January 1, 2026.
The said Municipal Court and the Judge of the Municipal Court shall have, possess and exercise all the functions, powers, duties and jurisdiction conferred by the provisions of Chapter 264 of the Laws of 1948, as amended and supplemented, or by any other law.
A.
The Municipal Court shall be held in the Municipal Building or such other place or places as the Mayor and Council may designate by resolution.
B.
The Judge of the Municipal Court shall sit at such times as the business of the Court may require or as may be designated by resolution of the Mayor and Council and subject to the rules applicable to municipal courts.
