An Advisory Board of Health is hereby established.

The powers and duties of the Advisory Board of Health are as follows:
A.
Advise and consult with the Health Officer with respect to the public health needs and programs of the Township.
B.
Review and make recommendations to the Health Officer with respect to public health hazards in and about the Township.
C.
Study and report on proposed health-related ordinances to the Health Officer and Township Council.
A.
The Advisory Board of Health shall consist of nine members. Members shall be residents or employees of the Township of North Brunswick.
A.
Three members shall be appointed by the Mayor, and three members shall be appointed by Township Council. The term of these members shall be three years. The initial terms shall be staggered two- and three-year terms so that one third of the members are appointed each year.
B.
If any vacancies occur among the members of the Health Advisory Board, they shall be filled only for the unexpired portion of such terms.
A.
The Advisory Board of Health shall elect one of its voting members as Chairman for a one-year term.
B.
A vice-chairperson shall also be elected from the voting members for a one-year term.
C.
A suitable person shall be selected as recording secretary.
D.
Election for all officers shall take place at the January Reorganization meeting.
A.
The Advisory Board of Health shall meet monthly at a day and time as set by the Advisory Board of Health on an annual schedule as required by State Law.
B.
The Advisory Board shall meet with the Local Board of Health at least quarterly at a day and time as established by the Local Board of Health on an annual schedule as required by State Law.
C.
A majority of the members appointed not including the ex officio members shall constitute a quorum. Ex Officio members shall not have a vote on matters coming before the Advisory Board.
D.
The Advisory Board shall have the power to establish rules for the conduct of its meetings.
