The mayor shall appoint a health officer who shall be a regularly practicing physician, who shall receive $3.00 per day for all time actually spent in performing such duties as shall be prescribed by ordinance.

It shall be the duty of the health officer to inspect or procure to be inspected all unsanitary conditions within the town limits every 30 days and report the same to the council of the town at the next succeeding meeting and to file complaints against all persons who maintain any nuisance within the town, upon their premises either as owner, lessee, or occupant, and to give written notice to all persons who maintain nuisances on the premises either as owner, lessee or occupant, requiring them to abate such nuisance within 10 days from the time of service of such notice.
