(1)
There is hereby created a town board of adjustment, consisting of five members, who shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the town council, none of which members shall hold any other office in the municipality. All members of the board of adjustment shall be legal residents of the town of Twisp.

The terms of office for the first appointive members shall be two years for two members, and three years for three members, such terms to expire on the first day of September, 1979 and 1980, respectively. The terms of the first appointive members shall be fixed and designated by the mayor at the time of their appointment. Thereafter the term of office for each appointive member shall be three years.
(3)
Vacancies occurring otherwise than through the expiration of terms shall be filled for the unexpired term. Members may be removed, after public hearing, by the mayor, with the approval of the town council, for inefficiency, misfeasance or malfeasance in office. The members shall be selected without respect to political affiliations and they shall serve without compensation.
