Underground sprinkling systems may be installed within the city subject to the following requirements:
(a)
A permit for such installation shall be first obtained from the water department of the city and the proposed system shall be subject to inspection and approval by such water department prior to installation;
(b)
The fee for such permit shall be such sum as required by the plumbing code; provided, that if the permit is obtained at the same time as the general building permit, no additional fee shall be charged for the sprinkling system;
(c)
All underground sprinkling systems shall have a separate shut-off valve installed upon city property, accessible to the city crew without going upon private property;
(d)
Such underground sprinkling system shall be equipped with a backwater valve to prevent water from backing up from the sprinkling system and contaminating the public water system.
