There shall be a Planning and Zoning Commission consisting of seven members. Members of the commission shall hold no other City office. Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission shall be appointed and removed by the City Council for a term of two years or until their successors are appointed and qualified. However, members shall serve staggered terms as referenced in section 1.03.033 of this division. Vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Commission shall be filled for unexpired terms by the City Council. The Planning and Zoning Commission shall elect a chairperson from among its appointed members. A majority of the appointed members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

The Planning and Zoning Commission shall:
(a) 
Exercise preliminary authority over platting and subdividing of land within and outside the corporate limits of the City of Grand Saline as authorized by law;
(b) 
Recommend to the City Council approval or disapproval of zoning and proposed changes in the City's zoning ordinance and plan;
(c) 
Recommend to the City Council any plans for the physical development of the City of Grand Saline.

The following individuals are appointed to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission, with their terms designated:
(a) 
Jeremy Gunnels; three years.
(b) 
Chris Means; three years.
(c) 
Brian Milliorn; three years.
(d) 
Catrennia Williamson; two years.
(e) 
Ruth Savage; two years.
(f) 
Lance Mayhugh; two years.
(g) 
Peggy Haverly; two years.

All meetings held by the City of Grand Saline Planning and Zoning Commission shall be subject to the Texas Open Meetings Act[1] and comply fully with said Act.
