The words and phrases set forth in this chapter when used in this title shall, for the purpose of this title, have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter.

Whenever any words or phrases used in this code are not defined but are defined in the Vehicle Code of the state and amendments thereto, such definitions shall apply.

means every officer of the police department of this city, or any officer authorized to direct or regulate traffic or to make arrests for violations of traffic regulations.

means the director of public works or his authorized representative.

mean any ordinances or resolutions of the city council passed for the purposes of regulating or controlling traffic.
