A. 
No person shall operate a golf cart, as defined in Section 300.010, on any roads or streets in this City unless the person has a valid license to operate a motor vehicle.
B. 
No golf cart shall be permitted to operate on any state highway, primary thoroughfare or roadway where the posted speed limit exceeds thirty (30) miles per hour, except to cross at an intersection.
C. 
Violation of this Chapter shall be deemed an ordinance violation.
A. 
Every golf cart when in use on a street shall be equipped with the following:
1. 
Functioning headlights for use during periods of reduced visibility.
2. 
Must display an orange reflective slow- moving vehicle triangle on the rear of the vehicle.
3. 
Display an orange triangular safety flag extending to a minimum of five (5) feet above ground level.
A. 
The owner shall obtain a permit from the City of Desloge prior to operation on any road or street in the city.
1. 
A permit issued pursuant to this Section shall be issued for a single golf cart and is not transferable to other golf carts.
2. 
The owner shall provide proof of ownership at time of permit application.
3. 
The owner shall maintain proof of liability insurance covering operation of the golf cart. Proof of insurance must be provided at the time of permit application and maintained at all times during operation.
4. 
The owner shall remit an annual permit fee up to twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the costs related to such permit.
5. 
Operators shall obey all traffic laws applicable to motor vehicles.
6. 
No person shall operate a golf cart in a careless or imprudent manner or under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
Any person found in violation of this Chapter shall be subject to a fine not exceeding two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per offense and may have their permit revoked at the discretion of the City.
