The intent of the classification and designation of geologically hazardous areas is to classify and designate areas on which development should be prohibited, restricted or otherwise controlled because of danger from geologic hazards. For the purpose of this chapter, geologically hazardous areas include areas susceptible to erosion, sliding, earthquake, or other geological events.
