New passenger elevators in buildings shall have minimum interior dimensions of 80 inches width and 51 inches depth. The minimum door opening shall be 42 inches. Exceptions: R3 occupancies and occupancies with an exterior access to an approved walkway for all floors served by the elevator.

A. 
Automatic external defibrillators shall be located in the following designated new or newly changed occupancy groups, new construction, and tenant improvements that involve more than 50 percent of the floor area:
1. 
Athletic clubs with 50 or more occupants;
2. 
Any assembly group of more than 100 occupants;
3. 
Any other occupancy, other than an assembly group, of more than 250 occupants;
4. 
Any outdoor event on city property with more than 250 occupants;
5. 
Medical offices, dental offices, and clinics;
6. 
Institutional group occupancies I-1, I-2, and I-3;
7. 
Residential Group R1;
8. 
Residential Group R2.
B. 
Building owners required to install an AED must notify the fire code official of the AED's existence, location, removal, relocation and maintenance. Building owners must also provide written contact information for the person responsible for the AED (name, address, phone number, and email address).
C. 
AEDs shall be located in a visible area accessible to the public and approved by the fire code official. AEDs shall be maintained as per the manufacturer's recommendations.
D. 
Expected AED users shall receive instruction in defibrillator use and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through a course approved by the fire code official. AED users are to call 911 before the emergency use of an AED, and provide appropriate follow-up information to first responders upon request. Any use or attempted use of an AED shall also be promptly reported to the fire code official.
E. 
The purchase, maintenance and replacement of required AEDs is the responsibility of the building owner(s) or designee.
