This chapter may be cited as the “garage, rummage, and secondhand merchandise sales permits ordinance.”

All persons including charitable bodies or institutions holding garage sales, rummage sales or sales of secondhand merchandise shall obtain a permit for such sales from the town clerk-treasurer.

There shall be no more than two such sales by a family within a period of six months. Sales by charitable bodies or institutions are excluded from this section.

Signs for the garage sales, rummage sales, or sales of secondhand merchandise will be displayed only in places approved by the town and shall be removed at the end of such sales.

If the board of trustees determines by a majority vote that the above section or sections have been violated, then the violator shall be punished by a fine of not more than $300.00.
