The Recreation Committee shall consist of nine members and four alternate members appointed by the Township Committee. The initial appointments for the four alternate members shall be for a term of nine months. Thereafter, all appointments shall be for a term of three years. Members shall serve for three-year terms and the terms of all current members shall cease 30 days after the adoption of this section during which time the Township Committee will make new appointments so that three members will be appointed for a three-year term, three members will be appointed for a two-year term and three members will be appointed for a one-year term. Thereafter all appointments shall be for a term of three years. The members shall serve until the respective successors are appointed and qualified. The Committee shall provide for its own organization and shall consult with and advise the head of the Committee and the Township Committee with respect to recreation policies, programs and activities within the Township and shall conduct recreation programs and activities in the Township. In addition to the regular members, the Township Committee may appoint two alternate members.
