[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Lindenhurst 8-31-1978 as L.L. No. 9-1978 (Ch. 68 of the 1968 Code of the Village of Lindenhurst), amended in its entirety 12-11-1978 by L.L. No. 13-1978. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]

The general purpose of this chapter is to allow the Village Board to create the position or positions of Special Service Attendant(s), who will be given the authority to issue summonses and/or appearance tickets for violation of village legislation upon property owned or controlled by the village.

The Zoning Inspector, Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Deputy Plumbing Inspector, Fire Marshal, Ordinance Enforcement Officer, Mayor, Trustees, Special Service Attendants, Special Service Attendants III, Parking Attendants and any other officers of the Incorporated Village of Lindenhurst authorized by resolution of the Board of Trustees from time to time are hereby authorized, directed and permitted to issue appearance tickets pursuant to the Criminal Procedure Law in the course of instituting prosecution against violations of the Code of the Incorporated Village of Lindenhurst. This section shall in no way act as a bar to the power to issue summonses and/or appearance tickets as may be conferred upon persons elsewhere than in this chapter.
The form of appearance tickets shall provide for verification pursuant to § 100.30, Subdivision I, Paragraph d, of the Criminal Procedure Law.
Alternate modes of pleading by the defendant shall be provided on the reverse side of the appearance ticket as follows:
A. 
Entry of a plea of guilty before the Clerk of the Court.
B. 
Entry of a plea of guilty by mail.
C. 
Power of attorney authorizing the Clerk of the Court to plead guilty on the defendant's behalf.
