This chapter is enacted pursuant to authority
conferred in Article 16 of the Town Law of the State of New York,
the Statutes of Local Governments of the State of New York and the
Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York.
These regulations are promulgated to provide
for the orderly growth and coordinated development of the Town, to
protect the comfort, convenience, safety, health and welfare of its
people and to insure that the review and approval of subdivisions
is based on the following considerations:
A. Preservation of certain lands, including farmland,
open space and recreational landscapes.
B. Preservation of the rural, cultural and historic character
of the Town's hamlets and surrounding countryside.
C. Preservation and protection of the Town's remaining
natural environment.
D. Encouragement of a range of housing and business opportunities
to support socioeconomically diverse communities.
E. Promotion of transportation efficiency, intermodal
transportation hubs and attractive alternatives to automobile travel,
while preserving the scenic and historic attributes of roadways in
the Town.
F. Creation of affordable housing opportunities for residents
of the Town.
