A. 
Firesafety and property maintenance inspections of buildings which contain an area of public assembly shall be inspected by the Building Inspector at intervals not to exceed one year.
B. 
Firesafety and property maintenance inspections of all multiple dwellings and all nonresidential occupancies shall be inspected by the Building Inspector at intervals not to exceed one year for dormitory buildings and three years for all other buildings.
C. 
Inspections permitted.
(1) 
In addition to the inspections required by Subsection A and B of this section, a firesafety and property maintenance inspection of any building, structure, use, or occupancy, or of any dwelling unit, may also be performed by the Building Inspector or an Inspector designated by the Building Inspector at any time upon: the request of the owner of the property to be inspected or an authorized agent of such owner; receipt by the Building Inspector of a written statement alleging that conditions or activities failing to comply with the Uniform Code or Energy Code exist; or receipt by the Building Inspector of any other information, reasonably believed by the Building Inspector to be reliable, giving rise to reasonable cause to believe that conditions or activities failing to comply with the Uniform Code or Energy Code exist; provided, however, that nothing in this subsection shall be construed as permitting an inspection under any circumstances under which a court order or warrant permitting such inspection is required, unless such court order or warrant shall have been obtained.
(2) 
All violations shall be corrected within a time period specified by the Building Inspector or they shall be considered an offense.
The Chief of the Beekman Fire District shall notify the Building Inspector, in writing, of any fire, explosion, malfunction or any other casualty involving any structural damage, fuel-burning appliance, chimney, gas vent or electrical damage. The Incident Commander of an incident listed above will complete a "Uniform Code Violation Notification" form and have the owner/occupant sign it after explaining their responsibilities. No fuel-burning appliance or chimney can be used until such has been inspected by the Building Inspector. Any violation of the Uniform Fire Code Violation Notification shall be considered an offense.
A violation of this chapter is hereby declared to be an offense, punishable by a fine not exceeding $350 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed six months, or both, for conviction of a first offense; for conviction of a second offense, both of which were committed within a period of five years, punishable by a fine not less than $350 nor more than $700 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed six months, or both; and upon conviction for a third or subsequent offense, all of which were committed within a period of five years, punishable by a fine not less than $700 nor more than $1,000 or imprisonment for a period not to exceed six months, or both. However, for the purpose of conferring jurisdiction upon courts and judicial officers generally, violations of this chapter shall be deemed misdemeanors, and, for such purpose only, all provisions of law relating to misdemeanors shall apply to such violations. Each week's continued violation shall constitute a separate additional violation.
