Each Council member shall receive compensation of an annual salary of $4,000 per year.

The Mayor shall receive a salary of $8,500 per year.

The rates of compensation as provided for in this article may not be changed during the term of office of members of the Council or of the Mayor, but any change shall apply only to those persons elected to the office of Councilman or to the office of Mayor at and after the municipal election next following passage of an ordinance making such change.
