Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act (P.L.
1983 c. 383, N.J.S.A. 52:27D-192 et seq.), the New Jersey Uniform
Fire Code shall be locally enforced in the Borough of Cresskill.
The local enforcing agency shall be the Cresskill Fire Department
Division of Fire Prevention.
The Division of Fire Prevention shall enforce the Uniform Fire
Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all buildings,
structures, and premises within the established boundaries of Cresskill,
other than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings used exclusively
for dwelling purposes and shall faithfully comply with the requirements
of the Uniform Fire Safety Act, the Uniform Fire Safety Code, and
this chapter.
The Cresskill Fire Department Division of Fire Prevention shall
carry out annual inspections of life hazard uses as required by the
Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
The Division of Fire Prevention shall be a division within the Cresskill Fire Department and shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Fire Marshal and Fire Chief. All employees of this office shall report to the Fire Marshal and subsequently the Fire Chief in accordance with Borough of Cresskill Code §
30-5.
All employees of the Division of Fire Prevention shall work
a schedule established by the Fire Marshal and approved by the Fire
Chief.
