There is hereby created an Arson Investigation
Unit within the Fire Department of the City. Members of the unit shall
be assigned by the Director of Public Safety from the full-time paid
fire fighters within the Department.
The Arson Investigation Unit shall be responsible
for conducting investigations of arson, suspicious fires or explosions
within the municipality.
The regulation and control of the Arson Investigation
Unit shall be pursuant to rules and regulations adopted by the governing
body.
Before any member shall be assigned to the Arson
Investigation Unit, he shall successfully complete an appropriate
course of training approved by the Police Training Commission and
an arson investigation training course approved by the Department
of Law and Public Safety. Members assigned shall be under the direct
supervision of the Fire Chief.
