Editor's Note: This local law also repealed former Ch. 175, Storage Units, adopted 11-21-2005 by L.L. No. 13-2005. Local Law Nos. 13-2005 and 15-2005 originally adopted this material as Ch. 202 of the Code. It was redesignated as Ch. 175 to maintain the organizational style of the Code.
Enclosed containers or portable on-demand storage units may only be used by homeowners and contractors in East Hills during the specific period of time that a valid building permit remains in force for construction on a homeowner's residence. Furthermore, a valid permit must be obtained from the Village by either the homeowner or contractor before the unit is delivered in East Hills. The permit must be displayed in a prominent place on the enclosed container or portable on-demand storage unit at all times.
Before an enclosed container or portable on-demand storage unit (PODS®) can be located and utilized at a residence in the Village of East Hills, a permit is required to be obtained. The permit shall be completed by the owner(s) of the property where the container or portable on-demand storage unit will be placed. The fee for each individual unit shall be $150 for the first month and $250 for each additional month or part of a month that the enclosed container or portable on-demand storage unit remains at a residence.
A violation of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be punishable by a fine of $1,000 per month for any month or part of a month that a permit has not be obtained for an enclosed container or portable on-demand storage unit.
