The openings in front of each house, building, lot or parcel
of land shall constitute a separate opening and shall require a separate
fee and deposit for restoration.
During the period any excavation shall be open, it shall be
properly protected during the daylight period by barricades, and,
during the period after dark, it shall be protected by barricades
and bomb-type flares or such light as shall be approved by the Superintendent
of Public Works.

An up-to-date list of licensed contractors will be maintained
at the Village Hall and is available upon request.

Contractors, other than those shown on the list mentioned in §
177-11, may be employed at the discretion of the owner, provided that such contractor becomes licensed by the Village prior to the commencement of work.
All street opening permits under this article shall be and hereby
are made subject to the performance of the conditions set forth in
this article.

The deposit referred to in §
177-15 shall be subject to forfeiture by the contractor to the extent an expenditure is made necessary to properly restore the improved surface of a Village street in accordance with Village specifications, as promulgated, from time to time, by the Board of Trustees.

Each water, gas, telegraph, telephone or electric light company or other public utility corporation, in lieu of the deposit as required by §
177-15, shall execute and deliver to the Village an indemnity bond of a responsible surety company in the sum of $5,000, guaranteeing the restoration of the streets of the Village to their condition prior to the openings made by such company and the maintenance thereof for one year and indemnifying the Village against the nonperformance thereof.

A violation of this article shall, upon conviction, be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
III.
