Duties of Code Enforcement Officer:
A. Be responsible for issuing building permits, permits
of occupancy and use permits.
B. Be responsible for the examination of plans for compliance
with the Building Code and other Town land use ordinances.
C. Conduct periodic inspections of construction in process
for conformance with Building Code requirements and electrical and
plumbing regulations, maintaining related records thereof.
D. Be responsible for investigating Building Code and
Town Land Use Ordinance violations and initiating litigation in the
name of the Town of Standish and testifying in a court of law.
E. Be responsible for the inspection of and recommendations
relative to the condemnation of buildings in accordance with appropriate
Town ordinances or state statutes.
F. Inspect property as promptly as possible when application
is made for a license or permit or any activity which requires certification
by the Code Enforcement Officer and maintain a file for such applications
and licenses.
G. Attend all Appeals Board meetings and give testimony
when requested by the Appeals Board and on such other times as he/she
deems necessary.
H. Attend Planning Board meetings, as needed.
I. Recommend amendments to the Planning Board regarding
the Building Code or other land use ordinances.
J. Make monthly and annual reports to the Town Manager.
K. Perform such other duties as the Town Manager may
from time to time establish.
L. Be responsible for enforcement of all building and
land use regulations and refer, after an appropriate period of time,
all uncorrected violations to the Town Attorney and Town Manager.
M. Prepare and submit the recommended budget to the Town
Manager.
