Pursuant to § 111 of the Agriculture and Markets Law, each dog licensed by the Village Clerk shall be assigned, at the time the dog is first licensed, a municipal identification number. Such identification number shall be carried by the dog on an identification tag which shall be affixed to a collar of the dog at all times, except while the dog is participating in a dog show. No tag carrying an identification number shall be affixed to the collar of any dog other than the one to which the identification number has been assigned to.
Violation of § 141-10 of this article shall be punishable as follows: by a fine of not less than $25, except that where the person was found to have violated this chapter or its predecessor within the preceding five years, the fine may be not less than $50, and where the person was found to have committed two or more such violations within the preceding five years, it shall be punishable by a fine of not less than $100 or imprisonment for not more than fifteen days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
