This chapter shall be known as the "Shooting Ordinance of the Borough of West Chester."
For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply:
FIREARM
Any pistol, revolver, shotgun, rifle or other instrument which projects an object by an explosive charge.
SHOOTING
The discharge or release of an object, such as but not limited to a projectile or pellets, from any firearm.
Shooting within the Borough of West Chester is prohibited except where a person is actively engaged in the defense of his life or property from peril or threat.

The violation of any provision of this chapter shall constitute an offense punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.), plus the costs of prosecution. Such fine and costs shall be collectible before any District Justice just as fines and penalties are now by law collectible.
