The lawful use of any building or the use of
land existing at the time of the adoption of this chapter may be continued
although such use or building does not conform with the provisions
of this chapter. Uses which are in violation of the current zoning
ordinance being supplanted by this chapter are not considered grandfathered
uses.
No nonconforming use shall hereafter be extended or enlarged except following authorization by the Board of Appeals as a special extension and subject to the site plan review and approval provisions of Article
VI.
When any presently nonconforming use of land/or
buildings has been discontinued or has not been in use for two years,
the land and buildings shall thereafter be used only in conformity
with this chapter, except that the Zoning Board of Appeals, after
a public hearing, may permit the resumption of said nonconforming
use.
Once changed to a conforming use, no building
or land shall be permitted to revert to a nonconforming use. A nonconforming
use may be altered to a conforming use.
