The following rules and regulations are adopted pursuant to the Lower Merion Electrical Ordinance (Chapter
72, Electrical Standards, §
72-2E, of this Code), which provides that the Examining Board shall formulate and publish rules and regulations for the examination, registration and licensing of all electrical contractors, chief plant electricians, oil burner and gas burner service dealers, refrigeration (A/C) service dealers and journeyman and apprentice electricians.
A. A test may be required for a master electrical contractor
or a master electrician limited special license although the applicant therefor
may have taken an electrical test in Philadelphia, Cheltenham or Upper Darby,
if sufficient evidence cannot be produced, such as final electrical inspection
certificates and/or jobs completed.
B. A master electrical contractor must operate an electrical business on a full-time basis, not part-time, per the Lower Merion Electrical Ordinance (Chapter
72, Electrical Standards, §
72-2E, of this Code).
C. A master electrician limited special who has qualified
and registered as a master electrician limited special may perform electrical
repairs and/or replacement to a single-family dwelling, but this shall not
include new electrical service or equipment.
D. Journeyman and apprentice electricians must be sponsored
by a master electrical contractor or a master electrician limited special.
Journeyman and apprentice electricians are only allowed to do electrical work
under the sponsorship of a master electrical contractor or a master electrician
limited special. The license is not transferable.
E. Regulations for chief plant electricians shall be as provided in the Lower Merion Electrical Ordinance (Chapter
72, Electrical Standards, §
72-2, of this Code).
F. Oil burner and gas burner service dealers must operate
an oil burner and gas burner service business on a full-time basis, not part-time.
G. Refrigeration (A/C) service dealers must operate a refrigeration
(A/C) service business on a full-time basis, not part-time.
