The purpose of this chapter is to expedite defense, disposition and settlement of small claims against the Town of Chenango.

Whenever a claim is filed against the Town of Chenango in an amount not in excess of $500, the Town Attorney may compromise and settle such claim without prior Town Board approval.
The Town Board may, by resolution, increase the amount that may be compromised or settled from time to time and describe the rules and procedure followed by the Town Attorney.
