Tobacco smoke can have deleterious effects upon smokers and is a serious health hazard to the nonsmoking public. Smoke and debris from smoking at recreational facilities within the Township constitutes an annoyance and a nuisance that results in litter and has deleterious effects upon the adults and children that are present to participate in and observe sports and recreational activities.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated;
RECREATIONAL FACILITY
Any field, park, playground or other athletic or social facility owned by the Township of Byram and/or the Byram Township Board of Education, but does not include any adjacent parking area.
SMOKING
The burning of a lighted cigarette, cigar or pipe.
Smoking is hereby prohibited at all recreational facilities.
Violation of this article shall be punishable by a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $500 per violation.
