Pursuant to the Uniform Fire Safety Act N.J.S.A.
52:27D-202, the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code, N.J.A.C. 5:70-1.1 et
seq., shall be enforced locally with the Township of Cranbury.

The local enforcing agency shall be the Bureau
of Fire Safety of the Township of Cranbury, which is hereby established
and which shall be operated under the supervision of the Fire Official
of the Township of Cranbury.

The Bureau of Fire Safety of the Township of
Cranbury shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all
buildings, structures and premises within the Township of Cranbury
and shall faithfully comply with requirements of the Uniform Fire
Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code, except that owner-occupied one-
and two-family dwellings and buildings owned or operated by the federal
government, the state or interstate agencies shall be exempt from
inspection, registration and permit requirements.

The local enforcing agency established by §
84-12 of this article shall assist the registration of life-hazard uses with the Department of Community Affairs and shall carry out the periodic inspections of such uses as required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.

The local enforcing agency established by §
84-12 of this article shall issue permits for such uses as required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.

The local enforcing agency established by §
84-12 of this article shall be under the direct Supervision and control of the Fire Official, who shall serve as the chief administrative and inspection official for said agency and who shall report to the Township Committee from time to time.

Pursuant to the Uniform Fire Safety Act and
Uniform Fire Code, any person aggrieved by any ruling, action, notice,
order or decision of the local enforcing agency shall have the right
to appeal to the County Construction Board of Appeals of the County
of Middlesex.

A. All life-hazard use registration fees and all permit
fees, as indicated in the Uniform Fire Code. N.J.A.C. 5:70-1.1 et
seq., shall be adopted by the local enforcing agency for the purpose
of enforcing this article.
B. In addition to the above, the fee for fire inspections of non-life
hazard uses shall be as follows:

(1) Single occupancy under 1,000 square feet: $58.
(2) Single occupancy 1,001 to 2,000 square feet: $90.
(3) Single occupancy 2,001 to 3,000 square feet: $122.
(4) Single occupancy 3,001 to 4,000 square feet: $154.
(5) Single occupancy 4,001 to 10,000 square feet: $206.
(6) Single occupancy 10,001 to 20,000 square feet: $270.
(7) Single occupancy 20,001 to 50,000 square feet: $464.
(8) Each additional 10,000 feet in excess of 50,000 square feet: $45.
C. Notwithstanding Subsection
A of this section, the application fee for a certificate of smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm compliance (CSDCMAC), as required by N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.3, as said provision may from time to time be amended, shall be as follows:

(1) Requests for a CSDCMAC received more than 10 business
days prior to the change of occupant: $45;
(2) Requests for a CSDCMAC received four to 10 business days prior to
the change of occupant: $90; and

(3) Requests for a CSDCMAC received fewer than four business days prior
to the change of occupant: $161.

Penalties shall be assessed, levied and collected
in accordance with the provisions of the Uniform Fire Code, N.J.A.C.
5:70-1.1 et seq., and Regulations for Fire Code Enforcement, N.J.A.C.
5:71-1.1 et seq.
Should any section or provision of this Article
be declared invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such declaration
shall not affect the remaining sections or provisions of this article,
which are hereby declared to be severable.
