The Mayor and Council of the Borough of Mendham
are concerned with the negative impacts of white-tailed deer and have
found that the increase in the white-tailed deer population causes
a public health nuisance which is inimical to the health and general
welfare of the public. The borough has, therefore, established a Deer
Management Program pursuant to an agreement with the State of New
Jersey, Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife, which includes culling
of the deer population by authorized agents of the borough, promotion
of hunting as regulated by the State of New Jersey and live trapping
and transfer of white-tailed deer. It is the purpose of this article
to prevent such conduct which would interfere with the Deer Management
Program established by the Borough and which may attract white-tailed
deer to properties in the Borough.
The Police Department is hereby authorized and
directed to enforce the provisions of this article.
[Amended 4-2-2007 by Ord. No. 3-07]
Any person or persons convicted of a violation of any provision of this article shall be subject, upon conviction, to the penalties provided in §
1-15 of this Code.
