The Town of Killingworth shall apply for membership
in the Old Age and Survivors Insurance System under Title 11 of the
Social Security Act, as amended, in accordance with §§ 7-451
to 7-459, inclusive, of the Connecticut General Statutes, Revision
of 1958, as amended, as of the first day of January 1956 for all its
employees, with the exception of services of an emergency nature,
services in any class or classes of part-time positions, compensation
for which is on a fee basis, and the employees excluded by § 7-454
of said statutes, as amended. The First Selectman shall execute on
behalf and in the name of the Town of Killingworth any and all agreements
with the State Employees Retirement Commission for the aforesaid purpose,
in accordance with and subject to the provisions of certain sections
of Part II of Chapter 113 of said statutes, subject to the regulations
promulgated by the State Employees Retirement Commission pursuant
to said Part II of Chapter 113 of said statutes.
The First Selectman of the Town of Killingworth
be and is hereby authorized and directed to make deductions from the
wages of the employees participating in the aforesaid Old Age and
Survivors Insurance System as required by § 7-456 of said
statutes and to forward the amount thereof together with the contribution
of the Town of Killingworth to the State Employees Retirement Commission
in the manner and form prescribed by said regulations.
The Town of Killingworth appropriates a sum
up to $850 for the purpose of paying the contributions of the Town
of Killingworth and the contributions of the employees qualified to
participate in the Old Age and Survivors Insurance System authorized
under the previous resolutions, such payments to apply from the effective
date of the modification of the agreement between the State of Connecticut
and the Federal Social Security Administration to include the Town
of Killingworth, retroactive to January 1, 1956.
The Board of Selectmen shall be authorized to
procure workers' compensation insurance coverage for uncompensated
elected and appointed Town officials.
