When any vehicle is parked or abandoned on any highway
within this Town during a snowstorm, flood, fire or other public emergency
which affects that portion of the public highway upon which said vehicle
is parked or abandoned, said vehicle may be removed by the Town of
Union Highway Department.

When any vehicle is found unattended on any highway
within this Town, where said vehicle constitutes an obstruction to
traffic, said vehicle may be removed by the Town of Union Highway
Department.
C.Â
When any vehicle is parked or abandoned on any highway
within this Town, where stopping, standing or parking is prohibited,
said vehicle may be removed by the Town of Union Highway Department.
D.Â
When any vehicle not registered for operation on public
highways is parked on any street or right-of-way within the Town of
Union, said vehicle may be removed by the Town of Union Highway Department.

After removal of any vehicle as provided in
this article, the Town of Union Highway Department may store such
vehicle in a suitable place at the expense of the owner. Such owner
or person in charge of the vehicle may redeem the same upon payment
to the Town of Union of the amount of all expenses actually and necessarily
incurred in effecting such removal, together with any charges for
storage.
The Town of Union Highway Department shall,
without delay, report the removal and the disposition of any vehicle
removed as provided in this article to the Highway Superintendent,
and it shall be the duty of such Highway Superintendent to ascertain
to the extent possible the owner of the vehicle or person having charge
of same and to notify him of the removal and disposition of such vehicle
and of the amount which will be required to redeem same.

Parking restricted after snowfall. No owner or operator
of a motor vehicle shall park the same unattended on any Town street
or highway or county highway within the Town of Union following any
snowfall of two inches or more until said street or highway shall
have been plowed by or at the direction of the Highway Department
of the Town of Union. Any two-inch snowfall shall, for the purpose
of this chapter, constitute a "snow emergency."[1]

Towing away of vehicles. The motor vehicles in violation
may be towed away by or at the direction of the Highway Superintendent
of the Town of Union and impounded until reasonable towing and storage
costs are paid.
C.Â
Signs. The Highway Superintendent shall maintain appropriate
signs at all main entrances to the Town of Union between November
15 and April 15 of each year stating: "No Parking on Town Streets
and Highways and County Highways Within the Town of Union After a
Two-Inch Snowfall Until Said Streets and Highways Have Been Plowed."
