It shall be unlawful, except in an emergency, for any driver of a vehicle while proceeding along any of the Town highways mentioned in § 275-22 of this article to drive a vehicle across a double line marked on the highway surface, except where the double line consists of a solid line and a broken line and the broken line is on the same side as the vehicle.

Any person violating any provision of this article
relating to yellow lines shall be guilty of a traffic infraction and
shall, for a first conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not
more than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or by
both such fine and imprisonment; for a conviction of a second violation,
both of which were committed within a period of 18 months, such person
shall be punished by a fine of not more than $200 or by imprisonment
for not more than 45 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment;
and for a conviction of a third or subsequent violation, all of which
were committed within a period of 18 months, such person shall be
punished by a fine of not more than $300 or by imprisonment for not
more than 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

The above fines shall be doubled should the violation
occur in a posted construction zone.
