As used in this article:
GARBAGE
Waste or decayed animal or vegetable matter of any kind incident
to the ordinary conduct of the household, including ashes, broken
crockery, mirror and window glass, household articles and utensils,
old clothing, rubbish, fish and foul debris, household refuse and
furniture. Garbage shall not include earth, stone, asphalt, plaster,
wood or other waste from excavating, or other construction, alteration
or repair of buildings, recyclables, hazardous household waste and
accessory waste (i.e., doctors, dentists, veterinarians and laboratories
that generate medical or hazardous waste).
All garbage, ashes and other refuse matter accumulating
on any residence or business premises within the Township shall be
removed as hereinafter provided at the general expense of the Township,
except debris and refuse matter arising from building operations or
from the alterations, changing or tearing down of buildings or structures
of any kind. Wood from sources other than those materials listed above
may be placed in bundles, securely tied with heavy twine, cord or
wire. Bundles shall not exceed six feet in length nor weight in excess
of 60 pounds each. Articles which are part of the recycling program
must be properly recycled.
The occupant of each premises shall provide
suitable receptacles in which garbage shall be placed and kept separately.
All garbage receptacles shall be strong, watertight containers with
handles and close-fitting covers. Receptacles shall hold no less than
20 gallons but no more than 35 gallons and, together with the contents,
shall weigh no more than 60 pounds. All receptacles shall be placed
adjacent to the street no sooner than dusk of the day before the day
of scheduled collection and shall be removed no later than 9:00 p.m.
on the day of collection.
Collections shall be made on such days, in such
manner and under additional rules and regulations, not inconsistent
with this article, as may hereafter be fixed and determined by the
governing body.
Sprinkling of garbage with poisonous chemicals
is prohibited.
In addition to the Police Department, the Superintendent
of Public Works and the Health Department shall be empowered to enforce
provisions of this article.
Any person violating the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction, be liable to the penalty stated in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Article
