As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
FLOATING HOME
Any vessel designated or in fact used or occupied as a dwelling
unit, living and sleeping quarters, business office or source of any
occupation or for any private or social club of whatever nature, including
but not limited to a structure constructed upon a barge primarily
immobile and out of navigation or which functions substantially as
a land structure while the same is moored or docked, whether such
vessel is self-propelled or not.
In the FH Floating Home District, no floating home shall be
hereafter used or occupied, except for the following use:
In the FH Floating Home District, no floating home shall be
more than 21 feet high, as measured from the waterline.
In the FH Floating Home District, no floating home shall be
moored or anchored on or over an underwater lot having an area of
less than 7,500 square feet.
In the FH Floating Home District, the total area of a floating
home shall not exceed 25% of the underwater lot area.
In the FH Floating Home District, there shall be a distance
of five feet between the pier or bulkhead line and front wall of a
floating home.
In the FH Floating Home District where two or more floating
homes are moored together, there shall be 24 feet of open water space
between the side walls or floats of adjacent floating homes.
In the FH Floating Home District, all floating homes shall be
provided with electricity, municipal water service and municipal sewage
disposal facilities in accordance with the Suffolk County Sanitary
Code.
In the FH Floating Home District, a minimum of two paved off-street parking spaces shall be provided for each floating home on the adjacent upland unless there is a greater requirement pursuant to §
183-129 of this Code.
In the FH Floating Home District, all floating homes shall be
subject to the provisions of the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building
Code.
In the FH Floating Home District, every application for the
creation of a Floating Home District shall be subject to the approval
of the Planning Board of the Village of Amityville.
No application for a Floating Home District shall be approved
without an environmental determination by the Planning Board as lead
agency that such application will have no adverse environmental impact.
