Whenever any words and phrases are used in this chapter, the meanings respectively ascribed to them in Chapter
1 of Title 21 of the Delaware Code shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases used herein.

All driving and vehicular traffic, as well as pedestrians, on
the public streets within the City of Lewes shall be governed by Title
21 of the Delaware Code, as amended, and the same shall be in force
and effect within the City of Lewes, except to the extent that such
statutory provisions are altered or supplemented by this chapter.
No person shall violate any of these statutory provisions.
All former traffic ordinances of the City of Lewes are hereby
repealed, except that this repeal shall not affect or prevent the
prosecution or punishment of any person for any act done or committed
in violation of any ordinance hereby repealed prior to the taking
effect of this chapter.
If any part or parts of this chapter are held to be invalid
for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this chapter.
Unless another penalty is specifically provided for in this
chapter or by the Delaware Code, any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be subject
to a fine of not less than $25 nor more than $200 and imprisonment
for a term of not less than 10 days nor more than 30 days for the
first such conviction. For a second or subsequent conviction, any
person, firm or corporation shall, upon conviction, be subject to
a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $500 and imprisonment for
a term of not less than 20 days nor more than 60 days for each such
conviction. Each day that a violation of any of the provisions of
this chapter continues shall be deemed and taken to be a separate
and distinct violation.
