A street number system for all principal or nonaccessory buildings on the streets and public ways in the Town of St. Michaels is hereby established, such numbering system to apply generally to the front or main outside entrance of each dwelling, commercial or industrial establishment or premises.
The method of numbering will be determined by the Town Clerk/Manager in accordance with the 911 system.

A. 
The street numbers of all buildings and properties within the corporate limits of the Town shall be assigned by the Town Clerk/Manager who shall maintain an orderly record of said street numbers in the Town office.
B. 
No street number shall be permitted on any buildings or recognized as official except those numbers assigned by the Town Clerk/Manager.
C. 
The Town Clerk/Manager shall, from time to time, revise, correct and assign street numbers in order to keep the street number system up to date.

A. 
Arabic numerals indicating the official street numbers shall be posted on each building or premises assigned a street number by the property owner and/or occupant in such a manner as to be clearly visible from the street on which the building or premises is located. Such numbers shall be a minimum height of three inches and shall contrast in color to their background.
B. 
Arabic numerals shall be placed on or adjacent to the exterior of the building, either around or over the front entrance and shall not be obscured by screened or glass enclosed porches.
Any owner or occupant of a building or premises which is not posted as prescribed above with the official street number within 30 days after said owner or occupant receives notice of the official street number shall be guilty of a municipal infraction which shall be punishable by a fine of $25. Each day that the said owner and/or occupant fails to have his or her building or premises posted with the official street number and shall constitute a separate offense.
