Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:67-16.7, the governing body does hereby authorize the Mayor of the Town of West New York to promulgate regulations for the temporary closing of streets for ingress and egress to school or for provision of recreational facilities on any day or days during certain specific hours for the preservation of the public safety, health and welfare of the inhabitants of the Town of West New York.
Upon the closing of any street or portion thereof as provided herein, "street closed" signs or barricades shall be appropriately posted, and thereafter it shall be unlawful to park or operate a motor vehicle thereon.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this article or order promulgated pursuant hereto, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $50 or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or both.
This article and any order promulgated pursuant hereto shall not become effective unless and until it shall have been approved by the Commissioner of Transportation.
